Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring at least one year of recent Med/Surg Tele experience and an active NC or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Position is in the Med/Surg Tele unit of a teaching hospital
• Unit has 36 beds with an average daily census of 33 patients
• Patient population includes general med/surg, post-operative, bariatric, orthopedic, and surgical trauma cases
• RN to patient ratio is 1:6
• Requires floating to sister med-surg units (7N and 7S) with the same ratios and expectations
• Telemetry monitoring is utilized
• EMR systems used are Encompass and EPIC
• Required to work every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Shift is 0700-1930
• Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• Responsibilities include caring for a diverse post-operative and med/surg patient population and providing telemetry monitoring
• Support staff includes CNAs, a charge nurse, phlebotomy, 24/7 RT, 24/7 hospitalist, and 24/7 intensivist coverage
• Orientation includes facility-wide and two days of unit-specific training
• Scrub color is royal blue
• Free parking available
• Unit culture is described as strong and supportive with strong leadership and work ethic
• RTO requests require Resource Team approval

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active NC or compact RN license required
• Minimum of 1 year recent experience in Med/Surg Tele nursing
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• General med/surg patient care experience required
• Experience with EMR systems Encompass or EPIC preferred
• Previous travel experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
